It is a sad truth that many bands have come to record and perform live some of the greatest music in their field but have been withheld from acheiving wider acclaim, often due to a lack of label backing... The Lab Animals are no exception, they created some brilliant Punk / Surf rock in California throughout the early to mid 90s, and then quit while they were ahead.

Their music is a cool and distinquishable blend of old-skool Punk & melodic, soulful Surf Rock to create a unique and original sound that has been missed since their breakup.

Their smokin' demo tape kick starts in glory as it throws you in at the deep-end with the track, "Ronnie Can't Surf". Paul Dedona's high-flying bass and Brady's precise percussion moves you into a recollection of earlyish SoCal Punk such as Angry Samoans and yet retains a sound which they can call their own.  This was recorded in 1994 people! However, we as listeners are hauled back & forth through time all in the good name of Rock 'n Roll to experience slower, more rootsy songs such as the title track, "A Good Day to Die", or the punchy, insanely catchy "I Know!"... we experience music from a band that clearly has no limits, they'll cool you off with a softer, chilled number before dragging you feet-first back into their slick Punk Rock overdrive!

Check out the wav file sample above!  I think you'll agree its aggressive rock the way it should be, sorry about the slightly deteriated sound quality but the buy the tape for the full effect! And more awesome tracks!!
And even if you're still unsure to this point, another reason is that its of course worth checking out lesser known work of other Bad Religion members, like Jay Bentley's short time in TSOL, or Bobby Schayer's "Dead Milkmen", get yerselves a copy of Paul Dedona's "Lab Animals" a band you're gonna listen to over and over again!
